Week One of Mission Possible at Langley Park/Silver Spring

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has been praying for us this week.  Your prayers were greatly needed and appreciated!  The weather this week was a challenge and thanks to your prayers God provided us with just the right amount of sunshine and rain.  The rain that he provided was at the exactly right time also.  I explain later inh this post.  The week started out great as we got together on Monday morning for our first team devotional.  Then after doing some additional training on the sketch board. We packed up the van and headed to Langley Park.  This year we went to a new location in Langley Park. Te kids where very glad to see us.  Although, on the first day we did not have any girls come out to the club.
Cameron and Kathryn
lead a song for the kids the first day.

They had some difficultly setting up the puppet stage the first day.

So we had them practice setting it up several times the next day and it was no longer a problem.

Kathryn taught the kids our memory verse the third day.  On day two we got rained out after the puppet show but, we were glad we got to at least go for a little while on day two.

Painting up the sketches for each day was a big part of our afternoon before we would leave for the kids club.

Each day of the club we awarded points for the kids who brought a friend, brought a bible, memorized the memory verse and for attending.  Eddie won the grand prize at the end of the four day club.  Eddie was very dedicated and attended the club everyday.  I pray God uses the seeds that were planted to save many of these children.

On the last day of the club we stay around for some extra time for the teens to play he with the kids and the loved it!
Katie and Kathryn playing soccer and Max and Cameron in the background playing frisbee.

Then on Friday night we went to Silver Spring and had a great night of ministry.
Max preached the second message of the night after the rain had stopped!

When we first arrived there was a very loud band playing up the street on the stage and half way through the first message it began to rain.  Christian did a great job of finishing the message and then we covered the sketchboard with a tarp and took cover until the rain passed.  About 45 minutes later the rain stopped and Max was able to preach his message.  Also, the rain caused the band up the street to stop playing and to leave which, made it much quieter and easier to preach.  So God used the rain to help the gospel go forth so more people could hear.
Even the parents that came out were able to get involved with the witnessing!
Jonathan did a great job preaching an a large crowd stayed to listen!

Christian was able to get a large crowd to gather with a numbers puzzle before a message was preached!

So, that is our update for week one.  I hope you get a good idea of the great ministry that occurred last week and please continue to keep us in your prayers.    Your prayers and support help make all of this ministry possible.

God bless!

Mission Possible is started and going great!

Last weekend the Possible team was commissioned and Pam, my co-leader, took a picture for me and sent it out via email.  I had not had time to post it but, this morning I had a few minutes so I wanted to share it on the blog.  A more detailed account of our weekly outreaches will follow with another post this weekend.  I pray everyone is having a blessed week and your prayers and support for the team are greatly appreciated!
